How to make an origami bookmark - simple and complex models for beginners and masters
It is surprising that in an age of universal computerization and the transfer of reading in the online mode, bookmarks for books are still in demand. And so it will be up to the moment when they will not stop production of paper textbooks, magazines, scientific and artistic works.
Of course, you can use as a bookmark any flat object, but why not make this subject in the technique of origami?
The word "origami" is translated from Japanese as "folded paper. Because bookmarks are supposed to be thick but fairly thin, they use a simple paper technique to make them. Consequently, making a bookmark is a good way to occupy children.
Arrow bookmark
Perhaps the easiest of all possible ways to make it. On dense cardboard you need to draw a rectangle 20 cm long, 3-4 cm wide, draw an arrowhead on one end, cut it out, decorate it and fold it across.
Now you can put the arrow in the book so that the tip of the arrow points not only to the desired page, but also to the desired line in the text. Even very young children can make such a bookmark with a little help from an adult. It can be the first step to making the most real bookmark for books, made in the origami technique.
In stores for creativity sold a special paper for origami, but for beginners suit and ordinary colored or office paper, most importantly, that the sheets were thick.
Bookmark corner
As the name suggests, the bookmark-corner is put on a corner of the sheet of paper, which will need to open next time.
The easiest way to fold
Elementary way of making a similar folding of the hat: take a rectangular sheet 10x14 cm, folded in half to form a rectangle 10x7 cm. The next step - the corners of the folded rectangle to bend to the center to form a triangle on a rectangular base.
This base will be the fields of the hat, for this each field must be wrapped in different directions upwards. The hat is almost ready, the only thing left is to glue together the protruding corners.
The classic way
To work on the classic version you will need to prepare:
- colored paper or cardboard;
- scissors;
- a simple pencil;
- ruler.
On a sheet of paper draw a square 15x15 cm, cut it out and fold it diagonally. Fold the triangle in half so that the right angle is aligned with the center of the diagonal. We got a trapezoid. Now you need to bend down a small upper triangle, so that again we got a triangle.
Important: it is necessary to carefully iron out all the folds.
The next step is to bend the corners of the triangle to get a square. A kind of pocket, covered by two triangles. Each triangle to bend and tuck into the pocket.
Bookmark ready. In principle, it can already be used, but you can also decorate it with applique: flowers, cars or make it look like the faces of animals.
For decoration you will need glue, paper of appropriate shades. The outer bottom edge of the corner is a nose, it is necessary to glue a small triangle of black or pink, the eyes are two white circles, inside which the pupils are glued - 2 smaller circles of black.
The shape of ears, tails, antennae, teeth or horns - it depends on the characteristics of the animal, which will symbolize the bookmark. On the muzzle can "put" spectacles, a cap, a bow, a night cap.
Instead of applique you can use paint or markers.
Using glue.
Another option for making origami bookmark for books requires the use of glue. On a sheet of paper, starting from a corner, draw a square of 10x10 cm, then trace it into four equal parts, cut out, remove one small square. Draw diagonals on the edge of the square and roll on them.
Should get a semblance of an arrow or a fish. Now bend and overlap the edge triangles, glue them together. All that's left is to decorate and start using it.
Round bookmark
Learning how to fold a corner bookmark, you can easily make other cute origami bookmarks. And what could be cuter than a smiley face? What will he be - funny, smiling, winking, suffering, surprised - it all depends on the imagination and mood.
Round bookmark is made in exactly the same way as the corner, but before you start decorating, it is necessary to give the corner the shape of a circle. How to do it? Find a suitable mug, glass, tape sleeve, circle and cut.
You can decorate in many ways and do not have to do just a smiley face. Why not color with felt-tip pens circle so that it becomes a bagel, cake, plate or ball?
Pencil Bookmark
A bookmark like this is a great gift idea for friends or teachers for September 1st. To make it you will need about 10-15 minutes of free time and thick colored paper or thin cardboard, a pencil, scissors, ruler, glue.
Cut a rectangle with sides 10 and 20 cm, make a central fold and unfold, put the figure with the white side up. On the narrow side bend a strip 1.5 cm wide - a white rectangle with a colored border.
Turn the workpiece colored side facing you, fold the folded edge to the center to leave an arrow. Each half of the arrow to roll again toward the center. Turn the figure with the other side facing you. It already looks like a white pencil with colored slate.
Now draw a line separating the cone from the square, this line turn the paper colored side up. Now it remains to form the body of the pencil: each broad side to bend to the center so that the edges overlap. To be sure, glue the body of the pencil in the center.
You can write the most difficult rules or formulas on the body of the pencil, and then it will not only be a bookmark, but also a great cheat sheet during a school lesson.
The pigtail bookmark
The name says it all. The result should resemble a braided braid. You will need two strips of thick, preferably glossy paper in a contrasting color. The most important thing - find any scheme you like on the internet and weave a plait, following the picture-tips. At the end of the work you need some glue to fix the ends of the improvised braid.
Flat braid can be complemented: one of the ends to glue a string, applique or even a three-dimensional figure, such as a small soft toy.
Origami is an art "for all occasions," even if it is just a simple bookmark. If it has a heart shape - it can be presented for Valentine's Day, and in the form of a Christmas tree - for the New Year.
The gift is sure to be unique, pleasing to the eye, and the process of preparing it will bring pleasure. By the way, folding paper is recommended to develop fine motor skills, not only for children but also for adults, for example, developing a hand after a fracture.
