Bird of paradise out of jute
This bird looks very nice. In general, burlap is a very interesting material for creativity. With a certain approach it can play with completely new and unexpected colors.
For example, imagine such a bird, painted breast, head and wings with gold and brown paint. It will be very rich and beautiful. The main thing here is not to overdo it. Sackcloth, requires simplicity.
The necessary materials and tools:
- Template. Cut out of paper the outline of the future bird of paradise.
- A piece of burlap with a coarse structure.
- Glue that can be used to glue fabrics together.
- Filler. Syntheon, absorbent cotton, or other similar material
- A black bead or two.
- Acrylic paint.
- Fine brushes.
- Glue gun or instant glue.
- Copper wire, not too thin.
- Jute cord or coarse linen thread (must match burlap in color and appearance)
- Needle and thread.
Cut out the two halves of the figure according to the template. The sacking along with the lining is used to cut out according to the template. The lining is needed so that the filler does not stick out between the sparse threads of jute. Flannel is used as a lining. Flannel enhances the decorative effect of the sacking.
- Glue the jute and flannel together.
- Cut out two bird outlines according to the template, leaving allowances for sewing. Sew them together, remembering to leave a hole at the bottom for the filler.
- Fill the stitched form tightly with filler. The hole is neatly stitched with an invisible stitch.
- Take three pieces of wire, bending them in half to form tail feathers. Two identical and one longer.
- Wrap a thin cord around the wire, leaving the tip. Tape the cord in several places so that it does not unravel.
- Attach the tail feathers to the body of the bird.
- The wings are made in the same way. Only the wings have two feathers, not three, as on the tail.
- Fix the wings on both sides.
- Now glue a thin twisted thread, along the body and head of the bird, separating the area of the back and breast of the bird. You can add some new elements to the threads, such as a crest or add legs of your own choice and artistic fantasy.
- Glue these decorations onto the wings, body and head of the bird.
- Glue the eye beads.
- Now paint the beak with acrylic paint in black.
- To be able to hang the bird, you need to attach a loop to it.
That is how such a bird will end up. It is ready and very cute in its naive rustic style. In some places, on the breast and wings, the figure can be lightly colored in gold or coffee.
